2.500 runners, two distances, one city - the foodora Linzathlon 2023

Running, scrambling and hopping against the clock: fighting spirit was required again at the foodora Linzathlon. This time peppered with various obstacles on two different distances. There was a proper celebration at the after-run party in perfect spring weather.

On May 13th, it was time to grit your teeth again, demonstrate team spirit, perseverance and nerves of steel, and don't forget one thing: having fun. Exactly at 14 p.m. the starting signal was given for the 4th edition of the foodora Linzathlon. In addition to the previous 10 km route, this year there was a new 5+ km distance between which the 1.900 participants could choose.

The obstacles that had to be conquered on the way to the finish were spectacular: the course runners faced 10 obstacles over the 24 kilometers, including classics such as the “foodora pipe”, “mission magna”, the “under armor bag jump” and the obstacle "Wall 4 banners #believeinyourself". On the 5+ kilometers, 16 obstacles had to be skilfully overcome.

Both distances started at the Untere Donaulände to the Danube Bridge, where the long distance made a loop on the Urfahr side and turned back over the bridge onto the Schlossberg again. The "light" variant led straight away across the main square into the historic city center, where, together with the previous distance, they continued past the most beautiful sights in Linz to their destination.

Cheered on by thousands of spectators along the route, the participants were motivated not to give up in the fight against their city. Only those who were tough enough against themselves could hold their own against Linz. Lucas Kempe mastered this challenge again the fastest: With a sensational time of 41:46 minutes, 01:30 minutes separated him from his pursuer, Michael Sauer. Christoph Schmalzer secured third place. In the women's category, last year's winner won Veronica Windisch again: She crossed the finish line after 51:38 minutes, closely followed by Marlies Brunner (2nd place) and Lisa Pfandl (3rd place). Lucas Kempe competed in the ULTRA rating and ran the foodora Linzathlon three times: He completed this athletic test in 02:23 hours.

Many prominent representatives from politics, business and sport did not miss this unique sports spectacle. Among them Vice Mayor and Sports Councilor Karin Hoerzing, George Schoenberger from Sparkasse Oberösterreich and Vice Snowboard World Champion Arvid Auner. Also on board: Caroline Singer (Kronen Zeitung) and Karl Weixelbaumer (Sandburg/Good Karma Gastro), who is also one of the finishers.

“We are known for delivering food even under challenging conditions. That's why we at foodora are happy to face this challenge again this year. At the foodora Linzathlon, the participants can again look forward to our pipe, which will shine in pink this year." Herbert Haas, CEO of foodora Austria, is enthusiastic about this year's participation in the Linzathlon.

After the run, we went straight to the after-run party powered by Jägermeister. There was a pure party atmosphere in the event arena, because the sound of DJ MÄXX really heated up the audience. Afterwards the Sandburg-Opening continued, where Chris Beau djed.
