Happy Fit Linzathlon 2021: Cool, funny, different!
Sport, fun and party in downtown Linz: 1.300 participants let it rip at the first major sporting event of the year in Linz.
At precisely 2:00 PM, Deputy Mayor Karin Hörzing and Deputy Mayor Bernhard Baier fired the starting pistol for the 14nd Happy Fit Linzathlon. Strength, skill, speed, and endurance were required to reach the finish line. Numerous professionals, amateurs, and celebrities once again took on the challenge of participating in Austria's toughest sightseeing tour on August 28th.
CompanyCode Managing Director and organizer Andreas Mauerhofer is delighted with the successful launch of the "beat the city" series 2021: "After almost two years without events, it's an even better feeling for my team and me to be living our passion again: inspiring people with extraordinary events. We never lost sight of our goal and embraced the challenges of the past few months – and today we were rewarded with happy faces. We look forward to continuing the series in Innsbruck (November 3rd and 4.11th) and Graz (November 10th and 11.11th)."
More obstacles than ever before
Swinging, jumping, or climbing: A total of 24 obstacles were placed along the ten-kilometer running course in the heart of Linz's city center . One of the most spectacular was the brand-new Under Armour Bagjump obstacle, where participants had to jump from a height of 4,5 meters onto an oversized jump bag. This obstacle was designed specifically for the new series partnership between "beat the city" and the US sports brand Under Armour. But classics like the "Happy Fit Endless Monkeys," the "Wand4 + Panier #glaubandich," and the "Mission:MAGNA" obstacle, as well as the "BMW Höglinger Denzel Adrenaline Mountain," once again thrilled participants and spectators alike.
They made it onto the podium
With an incredible time of 40:42 minutes, Markus Bretterklieber was the first to conquer the city. Former Olympian Veronika Windisch was the fastest woman to complete the action-packed obstacle run, crossing the finish line in 51:48 minutes and leaving her competitors almost four minutes behind.
The toughest competitor under the sun took on the ULTRA category: Alexander Seemann completed the Happy Fit Linzathlon twice. He mastered this athletic challenge in 02:03:39 hours.
Upper Austria Family Ticket Junior Linzathlon
At the kids' version of the "beat the city" series – the Upper Austrian Family Card Junior Linzathlon – which took place the previous day, around 250 children and teenagers aged 8 to 15 demonstrated their abilities: The juniors completed a two-kilometer obstacle course that demanded courage, strength, and endurance. On their way to the finish line, they had to overcome 12 challenging hurdles : from a mud-filled container and a seven-meter-long tunnel to a 3,5-meter-high inflatable wall. Fun and teamwork were the main focus.
After the run is before the party
Celebrating successes is at least as important as "being there": After the Happy Fit Linzathlon, the big after-run party took place in the event arena. Highlights such as DJ Mäxx and LifeRadio as well as the Jägermeister bar ensured a relaxed atmosphere.
The guests of honor at the 2nd Happy Fit Linzathlon
