Happy Fit Linzathlon 2021: Cool, funny, different!

Sport, fun and party in downtown Linz: 1.300 participants let it rip at the first major sporting event of the year in Linz.

At 14:00 p.m. sharp Deputy Mayor Karin Hörzing and Deputy Mayor Bernhard Baier the starting signal for the 2nd Happy Fit Linzathlon. Strength, skill, speed and endurance were required to make it to the finish line in the end. Numerous professionals, amateurs and celebrities again took up the challenge on August 28 to take part in Austria's toughest sightseeing tour.

CompanyCode managing director and organizer Andrew Mauerhofer is pleased about the successful start of the "beat the city" series 2021: “After a break of almost two years from events, it is an even better feeling for my team and I to be able to live our passion again: to inspire people with extraordinary events. We never lost sight of our goal and accepted the challenges of the last few months - today we were rewarded with happy faces. We are looking forward to the continuation in Innsbruck (3rd + 4.11th November) and Graz (10th + 11.11th November).”

More obstacles than ever before

Swing, jump or climb: Along the ten kilometers long running route in the center of Linz were a total 24 obstacles placed. One of the most spectacular was the brand new Under Armor Bagjump obstacle, where participants had to jump 4,5 meters onto an oversized jumpbag. This obstacle was specially designed for the new series partnership between "beat the city" and the US sports brand Under Armour. But also classics like the “Happy Fit Endless Monkeys”, the “Wand4 + Panier #believeinyourself” and the “Mission:MAGNA” obstacle as well as the “BMW Höglinger Denzel-Adrenaline Mountain” once again thrilled participants and audience alike.

With an incredible time of 40:42 Minutes gelang is Markus Bretterklieber be the first to conquer the city. Graduated as the fastest lady Ex-Olympician Veronica Windisch the action-packed obstacle run: she crossed the finish line 51: 48 minutes and thus relegated her colleagues to the ranks with a gap of almost four minutes.

The toughest under the sun contested the ULTRA rating: Alexander Seaman completed the Happy Fit Linzathlon twice. He mastered this athletic test in 02:03:39 Hours.

Upper Austria Family Ticket Junior Linzathlon

At the kids' version of the "beat the city" series that took place the day before - the Upper Austrian Family Ticket Junior Linzathlon - around 250 children and young people at the age of 8 to 15 years, what is in them: The juniors went through one two kilometers long obstacle course that demanded courage, strength and endurance from them. On the way to the finish they had to 12 exhausting hurdles overcome: starting with a container filled with mud, through a seven meter long tunnel, to a 3,5 meter high inflatable wall. The focus was on fun and teamwork.

After the run is before the party

Celebrating successes is at least as important as "being there": After the Happy Fit Linzathlon, the big after-run party took place in the event arena. Highlights such as DJ Mäxx and LifeRadio as well as the Jägermeister bar ensured a relaxed atmosphere.

In addition to numerous spectators along the route, many prominent representatives from politics, business and sport also enjoyed the unique sports spectacle to the fullest. among them Deputy Mayor Karin Hörzing, Deputy Mayor Bernhard Baier, Happy Fit Managing Director Sven Blanketr, Harald Murauer (BMM Sports Managing Director and Under Armor representative Austria), Unimarkt Group Managing Director Andreas Haider, Life Radio Marketing Manager Birgit Schön & Team, Snowboard champion Benjamin Karl, Sparkasse Upper Austria Regional Manager Georg Schönberger, Brau Union Sales Director Josef Paukenhaider and Host Hubert Harrer (DoN Catering).
