E-Grazathlon 2022: An event of superlatives!

Eleven kilometers of running track, 26 spectacular obstacles, 4.350 runners, thousands of spectators,
15 articulated lorries, 600 tons of material, 60 construction workers, 300 employees over the entire event weekend and a party atmosphere until late in the evening - that is the balance of the 9th E-Grazathlon.

On June 11th it was time to grit your teeth again, demonstrate team spirit, perseverance and nerves of steel and not forget one thing: having fun. Exactly at 14 p.m. spokesman Energie-Styria gave Urs Harnik Lauris the starting signal for the 9th edition of the E-Grazathlon. The course was tough: In addition to the Schlossberg, obstacles such as "KNAPP Power Bridge", "Anton Paar Islands", "Under Armor Bagjump" and "Wand 4 Panier #believeinyourself" had to be overcome. The 11-kilometer running route led through the historic city center, past the most beautiful sights in Graz. However, there wasn't much time for sightseeing - after all, there was a city to conquer.

Cheered on by thousands of spectators along the route, the participants were motivated not to give up in the fight against their city. Only those who were tough enough against themselves could hold their own against Graz. Killian Trummer mastered this challenge the fastest: With a sensational time of 48:11 minutes, he was separated from his pursuer by 1:35 minutes Daniel Buchegger (49:46 minutes). Secured third place Helmut Gremel (51:16 minutes). In the women won Veronica Windisch: She crossed the finish line in 1:01:49 hours, beating her fellow competitors Maria Hochegger (01:04:21 minutes) and Stephanie Habeler (1:05:09 hours) on the ranks. Martin Krumböck won the ULTRA ranking: He ran the E-Grazathlon twice in a time of 2:16:56 hours. The toughest under the sun was though Markus Sauer: He even completed the course 3,5 times and secured second place. And the best: For the first time, all participants had the opportunity to experience their run again - without any effort, in the form of a personalized video.

After the run, we went straight to the after-run party powered by Jägermeister, where we celebrated until late in the evening: There was a party atmosphere in the event arena, because the sound of DJ Mäxx really heated up the audience.

Many prominent representatives from politics, business and sport did not want to miss this unique sporting event. Among them City Council Kurt Hohensinner, Michael Gradischnig (Styrian Savings Bank), Moritz Murauer (BMM Sports Managing Director and Under Armor representative Austria), Urs Harnik Lauris (Energie Steiermark Group Spokesman), Sarah Smith (Holding Graz Group spokeswoman), Richard Kaufman (savings), Otmar Malli (Malli Baugesellschaft mbH), Anastasija Sevastova (former number 11 in the women's tennis world rankings), Arvid Auner (Snowboard World Cup Winner) and Wolfgang Nusshold (Kottulinsky).

Center West Junior Grazathlon

The young Styrians didn't miss out either: round 750 children and young people aged 8 to 15 competed in the Center West Junior Grazathlon, which took place the day before the main event. The juniors had to overcome a two-kilometre run with ten strenuous stations.
