Over 20.000 spectators along the route. 4.342 finishers from 4.743 entries and 43 nationalities. These are the record dates of the E-Grazathlon 2018, which was completely booked out and was able to shine with many Olympic celebrities. In terms of sport, Maria Hochegger from the Antenne Injoy Team won the women's event in 51:26 minutes. In the men's race, Hannes Meißel, also from Antenne Injoy Team, won for the third time in a time of 41:01 minutes, just ahead of Stefan Schriebl (44:39).
When runners are embracing each other, completely exhausted, covered in dirt and marked by exertion, that can only mean one thing: the E-Grazathlon has been successfully mastered. More than 4.700 daring people tackled the toughest sightseeing tour in the world and created a unique backdrop in downtown Graz that even attracted exceptional athletes such as Olympic champion Anna Gasser, world champion Janine Flock, Mario Haas, Katrin Ofner, Marco and Luca Dallago, Jördis Steinegger and Veronika Windisch amazed.
Anna Gasser on the Grazathlon: "Even though I couldn't take part, it was a unique experience for me. A real sports spectacle and it was nice to see people helping each other with the obstacles and having fun. I didn't know that. I want to try it myself next year.”
The organizers Andreas Mauerhofer and Lothar Brandl from the agency CompanyCode are of course happy about this compliment and are already thinking about next year, when they would like to bring some innovations again. The new website, which will be online shortly, and an extravagant finisher medal for 2019 are already fixed. The live transmissions of various obstacles, including drone images, to the Grazathlon Arena, which were used for the first time this year, proved to be a stroke of luck and ensured the right pre-start atmosphere the participants and for the entertainment of the spectators.
