2.900 runners, aged 8 to 75, 5 years of foodora Linzathlon 2024
Running, scrambling and hopping against time right through the middle of the city: the OÖ Familienkarte Junior Linzathlon and the foodora Linzathlon thrilled more participants than ever before on their 5th anniversary. Again at two different distances peppered with various obstacles. The celebration then took place at the after-run party on the Untere Donaulände.
On May 25th it was time to grit your teeth again, demonstrate team spirit, endurance and nerves and don't forget one thing: fun. The starting signal for the 15th edition of the foodora Linzathlon was given promptly at 5 p.m. In addition to the previous 10 km route, this year there was again the 5+ km distance, between which the total of 2.000 participants could choose. At no other event is the combination of challenge and fun as great as beat the city.
The obstacles were spectacular, which had to be conquered on the way to the finish: 10 obstacles awaited the course runners over the 21 kilometers, including classics such as the “foodora Pipe”, “Mission Magna”, the “Monkeyland” and the obstacle “Wand 4 Panier # believe in you". There were 5 obstacles to be skillfully overcome over the 13+ kilometers.
Beide Distances led from the Lower Donaulände to the Danube Bridge, where the long distance made a loop on the Urfahr side and led over the bridge back to the Schlossberg. The “Light” variant led directly across the main square into the historic city center, where, together with the longer distance, it led past the most beautiful sights in Linz to the finish.
Cheered on by thousands of spectators along the route, the participants were motivated not to give up in the fight against their city. Only those who were tough enough against themselves could hold their own against Linz. Daniel Buchegger mastered this challenge fastest: with a sensational time of 41:54 minutes, only 6 seconds separated him from his pursuer, Lucas Kempe. Third place was secured Patrick Rechberger. Won the women's race Veronica Windisch for the third time in a row: She crossed the finish line after 50:41 minutes, closely followed by Maria Flecker (2nd place) as well Irene Reichl (Place 3). Lucas Kempe competed in the ULTRA rating and ran the foodora Linzathlon three times: He completed this athletic test in 02:28 hours.
Auch prominent representatives from politics, business and sport did not miss this unique sporting spectacle. Among them is the deputy mayor Karin Hoerzing, LAbg. Michael Nell, Mag. Miller – Board of Directors of the Sparkasse Oberösterreich, Karoline Singer (Kronen Zeitung) and Lukas Plöchl (musician and ultra runner) who is also one of the finishers.
